2021 JRG Atlantic Filmmaker Award
Atlantic Canada call for filmmakers with disabilities.
JRG ATLANTIC FILMMAKER AWARD
Open to Atlantic Canadian filmmakers who are living with a disability.
Films can be any genre.
Final length must be under twenty minutes.
The film you are applying for can be in pre-production, however production can’t be completed and post-production can’t have started.
If you have started production please contact us to see if you are eligible.
Use of this award should be within a year of receiving it.
We recommend that your application take this timetable into account.
We welcome and encourage applications from artists with disabilities who experience multiple structural barriers to resources and artistic development opportunities, i.e. women; transgender and non-binary artists; Indigenous artists; Black artists; artists of colour; queer artists, low-income, poor, and working-class artists, etc.
$5,000 in-kind production support (lighting and grip package) from William F. White (must be used at Dartmouth, Nova Scotia location)
Post- production support from OutPost East (in Halifax, Nova Scotia)
Includes: 10 hours of mentorship, sound mix and colour correction.
Lunenburg Doc Fest: Two passes to the 2021 documentary festival and a swag bag full of goodies.
Applications will be assessed by a small committee of disability-identified artists. Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:
• The application meets all eligibility requirements
• Viability: the artist has established a clear and viable work schedule/process
• Impact: the potential impact of the project for the applicant’s own artistic development,
• Impact of the project for the wider community. Does the project bring new perspectives and underrepresented stories to light?
The recipient must acknowledge support from JRG Society for the Arts, Current and William F. White and Outpost East and a thank you to Lunenburg Doc Fest in the final credits of their film.
Allow Outpost East and JRG to share your trailer to promote your work.
While it is not necessary, acknowledging JRG Society for the Arts in social media posts helps JRG in its ability to continue giving these grants!
